Compact Valve Banks Provide Space Savings

Challenge:

A manufacturer of test equipment for the medical field contacted Pneumadyne engineers to develop a circuit to operate the sampling cylinders in a Nucleic Acid Purifier for DNA archiving. The system was required to draw, transfer, and eject DNA samples with zero loss.

Requirements:

  • Leak free
  • Operate at a very low pressure

Solution:

Pneumadyne engineers designed a custom manifold and installed our 10mm solenoid valves to satisfy the requirements of this application. Two valve banks, one normally closed and one normally open, are used to perform the sampling function.

Modular Valve Banks Enable Real-Time Sampling Saving Time & Money

Challenge:

Heat-treating steel is a lengthy process that requires specific metallurgical measurements and an incorrect gas level during the treatment process can result in a lot rejection. A local R&D company contacted Pneumadyne engineers to assist in the development of a method to test gases and ensure the consistent heat treatment of steel parts.

Requirements:

  • Accommodate various sizes of heat-treat furnaces
  • Connect to a computer which controls the sampling process
  • Compatible with system gases
  • Ability to purge the system to ensure a clean sample

Solution:

To accommodate the various sizes of heat-treat furnaces, Pneumadyne engineers designed a modular valve bank consisting of four solenoid valves with stainless steel internals. The modular design of the system allows the number of valve banks to increase or decrease based upon the required number of test points in the process.

The ability to test during the heat-treat process enables the gases and temperature to be adjusted immediately, guaranteeing consistency and decreasing the number of rejects. Real time sampling has also reduced heat treatment from 24 hours to 18 hours, saving time and lowering gas consumption.

Turnkey Valve Banks Save Time, Money & Space

Challenge:

Pneumadyne engineers were contacted by a manufacturer of solvent extraction systems to provide the pneumatic components for their new equipment. In addition to supplying valves and fittings that were easy to install, the components had to be tested to the customer’s specifications prior to shipment.

Solution:

After reviewing the circuit requirements for this application, Pneumadyne engineers determined that valve banks featuring our 15mm solenoid valves and “20” Series solenoid operated valves would meet the customer’s specifications. Valve Bank Eliminates Components Saving Money & Space

Challenge:

A manufacturer of laboratory testing equipment requested a dual feed valve that would enable them to disconnect either input without disrupting media flow. Their existing circuit was difficult to assemble, had several potential leak points and occupied a large amount of space in their equipment.

Requirements:

  • Meet specific flow and pressure requirements
  • “Clean up” the circuit
  • Speed component installation
  • Accommodate dual input functionality
  • Ability to disconnect one input without disrupting flow

Solution:

Pneumadyne engineers developed a valve bank which incorporates four detented toggle valves and two check valves to accommodate the customer’s function requirements.

Consolidating components into one block:

  • Eliminates numerous fittings and cut tube lengths, thereby, decreasing the number of potential leak points in the circuit
  • Provides plumbing convenience and eases installation
  • Requires less space in the test equipment
