Bulkhead Connector Controls Lift Device

Challenge:

A manufacturer of automotive lift devices contacted Pneumadyne to re-design a component used in their pneumatic circuit. Their previous valve consisted of four plastic components which were prone to breaking in the device. Although simple in design, the valve had to control the amount of flow allowed into the lift in order to control the speed of the lift.

Requirements:

  • Durable
  • Easy to install
  • Able to control the speed of the lift

Solution:

After reviewing the pneumatic circuitry of the lift, Pneumadyne engineers were able to condense the customer’s existing assembly into one durable, easy to install component.

Features include:

  • Fixed orifice check valve
  • Right angle configuration
  • 1/4ʺ and 8mm push-to-connect ports
  • Bulkhead style for direct installation

Other Applications:

  • Medical
  • Conveyor Stop
  • Packaging

Benefits:

  • Durable, long lasting design
  • Push-to-connect ports for easy installation
  • Fixed orifice check valve allows user to control the speed of the lift

Custom Valve Built to Read an Exterior Load Scale

Challenge:

A worldwide manufacturer of exterior load scales contacted Pneumadyne for a new valve that would fit their existing protective case. To meet the actuation requirements of the application, Pneumadyne engineers suggested a push-pull operator to replace the customer’s existing toggle. The new operator would allow the user to pull the knob to read the scale’s gauge. Closing the door of the case would then push the valve knob in, exhausting the gauge and protecting it during over-the-road travel.

Requirements:

  • Push-pull operation
  • Port locations needed to match existing punch outs in the case
  • Limited space available
  • Withstand extreme temperature variation
  • Heavy duty

Solution:

After reviewing the application requirements, Pneumadyne engineers were able to design a rugged valve that fit the space allotted in the protective case.

Features include:

  • Compact size
  • Durable push-pull metal knob
  • Anodized for corrosion resistance
  • Custom spool retainer to fit box configuration

Other Applications:

  • Packaging
  • Lift table
  • Palletizing

Benefits:

  • Anodized for corrosion resistance
  • Durable push-pull metal knob
  • Withstands extreme temperature variations

Motorcyclists Ride on Air with Valves

Challenge:

Adjustable air suspension has become an important feature in the manufacturing of motorcycles. Several companies have contacted Pneumadyne for pneumatic components that can inflate and deflate the shocks on their bikes. While the circuitry is often different, many of the application requirements remain the same.

Requirements:

  • Valve assembly must withstand vibration, heat and weather
  • Limited space is available for installation
  • Valves must accommodate high pressures

Solution:

With miniaturization and integration as the goal, Pneumadyne engineers focus on the base for our 15mm solenoid valves. Incorporating a check valve, push-to-connect cartridges or 1/8 NPT (F) fittings into the base decreases the number of potential leak points and greatly reduces the size of the valve assembly. Many of the air suspension valves developed by our engineers also share the following features:

  • 300 psi solenoid valves
  • Epoxy sealed connectors for moisture resistance
  • Compact and rugged designs
  • Built-in check valves to hold system pressure

Other Applications:

  • Medical
  • Palletizing
  • Conveying

Benefits:

  • Epoxy sealed connectors resist moisture
  • Compact, rugged design
  • Built-in check valves to hold system pressure

Heavy Duty Valve Block Controls Trailer Suspension

Challenge:

A manufacturer of military trailers contacted Pneumadyne engineers for a pneumatic control that could be used for leveling their suspensions. The application required independent adjustment of the left and right sides of the trailer.

Requirements:

  • Independent suspension adjustment
  • Heavy duty
  • Two-hand control

Solution:

To meet the customer’s specifications, a heavy duty valve block was designed to house the internals of our 3-position toggle valves. Consolidating the valves into a single block provided a durable pneumatic control that was easy to install on the trailer. With one input port and two output ports, the center valve selects the left or right suspension while the side valves control the up or down movement.

This valve block features:

  • Rugged design with mounting brackets
  • One input port and two output ports for two handed control
  • Protective silicone boot on each toggle
  • Heavy duty momentary toggles

Other Applications:

  • Packaging
  • Assembly
  • Conveying

Benefits:

  • Rugged design for long lasting life
  • Designed for two-hand control
  • Heavy duty momentary toggles allow independent suspension adjustment
