From clamping and locking, to pick and place, assembly applications use many Bimba products. Bimba provides products and solutions that simplify repetitive assembly processes and reduce costs.

The paper industry has been a long time user of Bimba products, both special and standard, whether it is for processing paper in mills or printing on printers or copiers. Bimba's position feedback products are popular.

Processing and handling of plastics and plastic components are perfect applications for Bimba actuators. From measuring to clamping or cutting and punching. Bimba actuators are tried and true for basic applications in the plastic industry.

Industry—Printing
Printing applications require clean air and a number of actuators for clamping, holding and conveying the final printed product. Past Bimba solutions include an in-line 50 micron filter/check valve combination that provides a compact, 2 in 1 solution.

Industry—Semiconductor
Cleanroom designs and exotic materials are the norm in this industry. Bimba offers a standardized clean room actuator design based on Original Line and Flat cylinders. Bimba has also made all plastic actuators using PTFE and PVDF materials, both of which offer significant resistance to the chemicals used in water processing, such as hydrofluoric acid.

Corrosion resistance is critical in harsh environments commonly found in waste treatment applications. Bimba's ability to manufacture solutions in a variety of materials enables customers to choose the solution that works best rather than only the solution that is available from stock.

Industry—Window and Door
The fenestration industry uses a variety of actuators for clamping. Bimba's unique twist clamp, as shown in our catalog, provides long life in applications that require a clamping arm to move away from the workpiece for faster and easier loading and unloading of parts. Bimba also designed a unique, adjustable double fingered clamping device that enables flexbility and quick mold changes.

Industry—Wood
In the wood and wood processing industry, pneumatic actuators are often used for measuring and clamping. Bimba has been involved in this industry for years. Recently Bimba worked with a wood processor who needed a temporary edge guiding device on a routing table. Bimba's rectangular stopper actuator, one of our most popular solutions, provides a temporary edge guide when actuated with ample surface area for guiding and support.

Some Bimba solutions can be applied universally to applications in any industry. For example, Bimba has designed a number of different air to air boosters, offering as much as 4:1 boost in pressure.

In today's energy conscious climate, finding new or more efficient ways to harness energy is an important part of any green initiative. Bimba has supported a number of diverse applications that are used to provide a variety of different energy types, from a pump used to collect natural off- gassing of an oil well to harnessing the natural energy of the ocean's waves. Bimba can assist in making these unique energy ideas into reality.

Product Type—Rate Controls
Bimba has innovated a variety of rate control devices used in applications ranging from motorcycle seat adjustments to soap dispensing. Rate control designs from Bimba offer pre-filled hydraulic fluid as part of a self contained air/oil fluid power circuit. In one example, Bimba uses an oversized hollow customer rod to provide hydraulic fluid storage, providing a compact and hidden internal oil circuit that is driven by compressed air.

Product Type—Manifold Designs
Manifold designs utilize multiple bore actuators with close centers to provide the most compact actuator bundle design. Multi-bore manifolds can have valves and control devices integrally designed into the manifold for optimum performance.

Product Type—Hand Tools
Bimba has provided solutions for many custom air driven hand tool applications. From hand tools used in lock-out, tag-out applications to medical devices, Bimba has expanded its core actuation designs and developed hand tools used as finished products, not simply components of an OEM machine.

Product Type—Valves and Pumps
Mechanical valves and pumps use much the same technology as a Bimba actuator, therefore Bimba's solutions capabilities are readily adapted to valves and pumps. Special valve designs based off of the Mead brand of Bimba products are also readily available. Whether it's a valve designed for high pressure process fluid or a piston displacement pump made from a special material, Bimba has a number of specialty valves and pumps designed featured in this section of our Solutions Shop.

Product Type—Air Preparation Products
Along with a full FRL (filters, regulators, lubricators) product offering, Bimba's special capabilities and knack for providing solutions certainly does not stop with actuators. From in-line 50 micron filters combined with a low pressure check valve to repairable or non-repairable desiccant drier towers, Bimba knows that air preparation is very important for today's pneumatic applications and complete air preparation can't always be provided by standard filters, regulators and lubricators.

Product Type—Actuators
The original Bimba cylinder design, affectionately called the "Original Line" by the industry, is a non-repairable, roundline cylinder design that has become an industry standard, introduced as an alternative to tie rod cylinders to eliminate costly downtime associated with cylinder repair. Throughout its 50 year history, Bimba has provided actuator solutions for customers who need a level of performance or dimensional modification in order to optimize their application. In this section, are a number of our more unique solutions, but don't let that limit you. With hundreds of thousands of actuator designs in our library, there are countless designs both new and old just waiting to help your application.

Design Feature—Exotic Materials
Duralon, Torlon, PVDF, Monel, Ryton.....these are trade names of some of the materials that Bimba has used for unique design solutions. This partial list demonstrates our ability to meet our customers' changing material needs. Bimba is not limited to standard stock materials, and has developed experience in the application, construction, and processing of specialized metals and plastics.

Design Feature—Performance Improvements
When performance from a standard actuator is not adequate for your application, call on Bimba's special design capabilities. Our custom designs have produced faster speeds, smoother actuation, and greater force, and have adapted to higher air pressure (over 600 psi), expanded temperature ranges (over 500° F), and specialized environments, including cleanroom applications.

Design Feature—Space Saving and Miniaturization
Cylinders such as our Flat 1 product line were designed specifically to address the demand for a lower profile actuator. Even so, the market for space savings often demands more than our standard Flat 1 products offer. From our 3/16" bore cube cylinder (1/2" cube shape) to multi-bore manifolds to our diaphragm cylinders, Bimba has provided some of the most unique actuators and solutions in the industry.

Design Feature—Value Added Design
Bimba's special design capabilties don't end with actuator design. Bimba has the ability to integrate components such as fittings and valves into the endcaps of a cylinder, saving valuable labor and time. BImba can also combine and integrate its own products, providing turn-key solutions for customers with multi-axis automation requirements using Bimba products and transition plates.
